Sylvia Fullerton is a registered interior designer in the state of Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree (in interior design) from the University of Texas, Austin in 1967 and worked for a designer in the Austin area. After moving to Houston in 1970 she eventually established her own design company, Design Profile in 1977. Her first client was Strawberry Tennis Center in Pasadena, Texas.

In addition to her design experience, Sylvia began a full-time teaching career in 1982 at San Jacinto College, Central in the interior design department for the following sixteen years, plus four years part-time. During this time, she earned her Masters of Humanities in the Arts at the University of Houston, CLC in 1989.  Her travels to Europe and throughout the States allowed Sylvia to visit and photograph works of many noted architects who made an impact on the structuring of architecture and interior design in this country.  This information and pictures were shared with her design students as well as enhancing her own sense of creativity. In 1998 Sylvia decided to resign her teaching career and focus fulltime on her interior design business; however, in January, 2000 while visiting her family  in CA., she was invited to teach at the Design Institute of San Diego, while working  at a commercial design firm.

Her commercial career has included a chiropractic clinic, a doctor’s office, a children’s dentist office, a lake resort in Austin, and a church. Her residential experience has included numerous homes throughout South Texas ranging from contract home remodeling to restoration of a lodge-residence on a bayou; from redoing a turn- of- the century home in an Arts and Crafts theme to a high rise urban loft expressing an uptown artistic approach with antiques and custom designed furniture.

Sylvia enjoys creating all of her silk, organic arrangements for her clients as well as designing custom metal furniture with stone and/or glass. In addition custom designing divider screens as works of art and visual merchandising are other interests.

Her areas of expertise range from conceptualizing interior spaces – horizontally and vertically, space planning, furniture layouts and selections, color and pattern mixtures in window treatments-upholstery-bedding and wall treatments, lighting plans, and finding solutions to challenges.
